Status of Fashion in Early India
Clothing and ornaments in India were worn as per personal status, wealth, beauty and religion. Fashion was not in the reach of the general public due to its boldness and lack of acceptability in society. Earlier, it was the monopoly of celebrities and high class of the society. Post-independence, the slight impact was seen on the clothing but that too on the negligible percentage of the community. Then in 80’s significant impact of trends was noticed on the stars of small screen and big screen. It is observed that changing trends of small screen impacted the public in large than that of the big screen due to its greater reach and acceptability.
